The C.O. Lynn Co. was founded in 1905 by C. O. Lynn. The firm was first located at 945 Tacoma Avenue South and then moved the firm across Tacoma Avenue to 910-912 Tacoma Avenue South in 1911.

In 1918 the present building was built at 717 Tacoma Avenue South and in 1950 a wing was added to the building.

In 1933, a son, C. Nathan Lynn, joined the firm and in 1938, his second son, J. Marvin Lynn, also joined the firm. The three Lynn's formed a partnership in 1948 which continued until the death of C.O. Lynn in 1962 and C. Nathan Lynn in 1963. J. Marvin Lynn operated the firm from 1963 to 1965 as a sole proprietorship and then incorporated the firm in 1965 with his wife, Miriam, and son, John M. Lynn.

The name was slightly changed from C. O. Lynn Co. To Lynn Funeral Home and in 1971, the corporation was purchased by John M. And Sally A. Lynn, the present corporate owners, representing the 3rd generation of family ownership and management.

The Lynn Funeral Home was first chosen to become a member of the International Order of the Golden Rule in 1960. This is a highly respected association of Funeral Directors who maintain high standards of conduct and strict qualifications for membership eligibility. Exclusive membership is governed by population zones, thus the Lynn Funeral Home is Tacoma's only Order of the Golden Rule member.

In the Fall of 2004, John and Sally retired and turned the management of Lynn Funeral Home over to their friends, the Weeks family. The business was moved to 220 134th Street South and merged with Weeks' Dryer Mortuary. John and Sally, though retired, maintain an active interest in the future of Lynn Funeral Home and, if available, will still meet with longtime friends and community members.
